DOZEN PEOPLE INJURED IN TAMPA HARTLINE BUS CRASH with pickup truck at 56th Street and Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY -- At least a dozen people were injured in a crash involving a Hartline bus and a pick-up truck in Tampa this morning. According to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, at least 12 people were injured when the bus and truck collided at the intersection of 56th Street and Hillsborough Avenue.
Ten passengers on the bus, the driver of the bus and the driver of the pick-up truck were all injured as a result of this intersection accident. The ten (10) passengers were taken to University Community, St. Joseph's and Tampa General hospitals. The truck driver was cited for violating the red light, troopers said. Alcohol was not involved in the crash.
Florida PIP benefits do not extend to the passengers on the bus. The driver of the pick-up truck will be eligible for PIP benefits under his motor vehicle policy. The bus driver will be eligible for workers’ compensation benefits.
