I-75 crash in Brooksville leaves one dead, two injured ♦ Hernando County ♦ FHP investigating

BROOKSVILLE — An early morning crash on southbound Interstate 75 south of State Road 50 in Brooksville has left one woman dead and two more injured, one seriously, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. One of the passengers was killed after she was ejected from the overturning car.

At almost 3 a.m., a Ford Escape was heading south on I-75 with three passengers when it swerved across the lanes, hitting the guardrail several times, FHP said. The car flipped over the rail and into the center median, landing on its roof.

One occupant was seriously injured and was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa and the other was taken to Brooksville Regional Hospital with minor injuries. One occupant of the vehicle escaped the crash without injury.

The Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.
