TEXTING AND DRIVING COULD BE DEADLY • Texting drivers' reaction times worse than drunken drivers • Cause of serious accidents • Rear-ended by texter

STATEWIDE – Here is a WAKE UP CALL!
A recent study shows that a driver that is distracted by TEXTING AND DRIVING is worse than a DRUNKEN DRIVER! Wake up FLORIDIANS!

Here are the FACTS of a RECENT STUDY:
  • A sober driver took half a second to brake

  • A drunken driver with a blood alcohol level of .08 took 4 extra feet to brake

  • A sober driver reading e-mails traveled 36 additional feet

  • A sober driver sending text messages traveled 70 additional feet

"If you're not paying attention, how do you react to something if you don't see it coming?"

One police department in Florida reports that 80 percent of all the rear-end collisions they investigate are the result of distracted drivers. Texting is becoming a more common distraction, police say.

Currently, 14 states have laws prohibiting texting while driving, but Florida is not one of them.

PLEASE PAY ATTENTION while driving. Your life and the life of other may depend on it!
