KENMORE DEHUMIDIFIERS - Reports of fire-related incidents prompt recall of Kenmore dehumidifiers.


In a recent report, "Sears, Roebuck and Co. and Kmart Corp. are recalling about 795,000 Kenmore dehumidifiers because of potential fire and burn hazards." As the AP notes, the company and the US Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Thursday that "the dehumidifiers can overheat, smoke, melt and catch fire." According to the story, the firm "has received 107 incident reports, three of those for smoke inhalation injuries," and the reports also detail more than $7 million in property damage.
