ST. LUCIE COUNTY — One person has died in the accident on Florida's Turnpike that shut down the northbound lanes near Fort Pierce at about 3:25 p.m. Sunday. Wreckage from the single-vehicle rollover crash was cleared at about 5:21 p.m., allowing the Florida Highway Patrol to reopen the road to traffic.
The person killed has not been identified. At least one other person was injured in the accident and was taken to the trauma center at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce.
The crash happened on the turnpike about two miles south of the Fort Pierce exit.
FHP continues to investigate the crash.
